This is also a day for great Astrological significance for the believers of astrology, and special pujas are performed, to get over adversities, legal issues, family and financial problems etc.

Nabami is the greatest durga puja celebration day for the Bengalis, and the best attire is always se aside for Nabami wear for the revellers.

It is also customary to eat chevon (goat meat) on this day, more widely known as mutton in India. Being the last day of Durga puja, it is celebrated as much as possible, with most of the time being spent outdoors. For most, it’s a night long period of celebration.

India being a land of diverse cultures, the ninth day of Navratri festival, Navami, is celebrated in different ways across the country.

The famous Garba dance and dandiya dance, which is worshipping Mother's womb, by keeping a lamp in the center, and dancing around it in circles with small sticks, is famous in Gujarat and other parts of North India.

In the southern states of India, Suhasini puja, in which a married woman, who is considered a fprm of Shakti, is offered the Shodasopachara Puja.

The Dus Mahavidya worshippers, worship Matangi, a form of the mother, while the Navadurga Sampradayas worship Mata Siddeshwari.
